You can verify whether a VPN-like solution is actually providing network protection by checking:
- That your traffic is encrypted while active (for example, using browser security indicators and/or reputable network testing tools).
- Whether DNS and connection behavior change while the service is enabled (platform tools can sometimes show this).
- That you still follow basic account and device hygiene: update your OS/browser, limit risky extensions, and use multi-factor authentication.
As a final boundary condition: if you are already logged in under an identity on a website, network protection can’t prevent that website from learning who you are through normal web tracking. The right expectation is improved protection in transit and against certain observers—not a substitute for safe browsing and account security.
