A VPN is not a magic shield. Important limits include:

  • No guarantee of anonymity: A VPN can reduce certain kinds of visibility, but it does not make you anonymous in all senses. Your accounts, device behavior, downloads, and application-level identifiers can still expose you.
  • Security depends on configuration and habits: If you install risky software, ignore updates, or enter credentials into phishing pages, a VPN cannot fix that.
  • Not all risks are about interception: Malware, malicious websites, and account takeovers can occur regardless of VPN use.
