Think of PPTP VPN as a middle layer that wraps your traffic for transport:

- The PPTP client encapsulates that data and sends it to the VPN server.
- The VPN server unwraps the data and forwards it to the intended internet destination.
- Replies follow the reverse direction through the same tunnel.

Why PPTP VPN matters for online security
