A dedicated IP address is an internet IP address assigned to you (or your account) rather than being shared with other users. In practice, the main difference from a shared IP is that other people’s activity is less likely to be mixed with yours at the IP level.

- Visit an IP-checking website while connected to the dedicated setup.
- Compare results across sessions (and, if relevant, across different times). If the visible IP changes unexpectedly, the “dedicated” expectation may not match your configuration.
- Check whether geolocation signals match your expectations
- Use an IP-to-location tool and note the results.
- If you compare the tool’s location to where you are physically, you may see a mismatch. This helps explain why some services may treat you differently.
- Look for site behavior differences that correlate with IP
- Try the same action on a service that previously restricted access.
