A dynamic IP address is an Internet Protocol address your ISP (Internet Service Provider) assigns to your device or network for a period of time. “Dynamic” means the assignment can change later without you manually doing anything—commonly when your modem/router reconnects, your lease expires, or the provider adjusts routing.

- If the public IP changes across re-checks, your connection behaves dynamically (at least under those conditions).
- If it stays the same for extended periods, it may still be dynamic but currently not changing, or it may be effectively static for practical purposes.
